A leading company seeks to employ a  Technical Manager II: BI Data Integration, IT to join their growing team to Lead a team of Business Intelligence Data Integration Developers and is accountable for developing scalable and robust data solutions for integrating data from disparate sources into the Data Warehouse and Analytical Platform that will support diverse reporting and analytical capabilities. This is a permanent position based at the Head Office in Cape Town City Centre.

•  In depth knowledge of BI environments, solutions and implementations (end-to-end BI architecture and technologies)
•  Extensive knowledge of software engineering and development processes and is an expert in the field of data integration (ETL and OLAP) tools
•  Extensive knowledge and experience in maintainability, scalability and performance of BI environments
•  Able to create re-usable code and apply standards and best practices to that code
•  Good written and verbal communication skills
•  Disciplined in applying BI standards but open to suggestion and change
•  Analytical thinking and disciplined problem solving
•  Meticulous and attention-to-detail focus
•  Able to effectively participate in cross-team communication and cooperation
•  Strong self-organisational skills for managing time and work effort
•  Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
•  Ability to work and act independently and as part of a team

Minimum Qualification
•  Relevant 3 year tertiary or NQF aligned qualification

Experienced Required
•  Up to 8 years’ experience in IT, with a minimum of 5 years in a BI Data Integration role – at least one year management experience preferable
•  Proven track record of delivering BI technical solutions on large, enterprise BI projects
•  Proven application of Data Warehousing and BI best practices
•  Proven track record of implementing innovative BI solutions leading to clear business benefits

•  Provide impact analysis for new BI solutions and accurately assess and effectively communicate detailed development estimates, the technical feasibility of and risks associated with each solution design/project
•  Work with other BI team members to analyse and recommend BI solutions to meet business requirements
•  Provide technical leadership and present data integration designs to BI Architecture Forum and peer review meetings to ensure that design and code meet performance requirements
•  Ensure that data integration designs are aligned with the long term BI Architecture Strategy
•  Define Data Integration standards and enforce these standards together with the BI architecture standards
•  Ensure that data integration solutions maximise re-usable components and that audit, reconciliation and exception handling had been incorporated
•  Ensure that data integration solutions had been tested (unit testing and system integration testing) – responsible for final quality assurance of all data integration solutions
•  Ensure that technical and procedural documentation are kept up to date
•  Remain current with industry trends and thought leadership on Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, BI architecture and BI technologies
•  Establish effective and collaborative partnerships within the BI Team as well as with relevant IT teams, particularly BI source system teams
